“True advocacy requires more than representation on a client's day in court — it means listening, brainstorming, and adapting to each person's needs.”
Katherine, also known as Katie, grew up in Roanoke, Virginia, where she attended Catholic school, college, and (in nearby Lexington) law school. Initially an English major, Katie found that her passion for writing was better exercised in the History department, where she learned to combine detailed composition with structured analysis. This same skillset, as well as her desire to serve others, lead her to the practice of law.
Before enrolling in law school, Katie worked as a file clerk, legal assistant, and paralegal. These roles gave her a special insight into the full client experience and an awareness that the most effective lawyers treat clients as fellow humans with busy and complex lives, rather than reducing them to the legal issues they are facing. Thus, in her own practice, Katie has made it a priority to take a holistic approach. She is happy to listen, brainstorm, or change course in order to conform with a client's shifting needs and believes that true advocacy requires more than representation on a client's day in court. Her tendency toward empathy, transparency, and responsiveness has allowed her to usher clients through unfamiliar legal processes with minimal anxiety and uncertainty.
Katie has lived in Richmond since 2015. She has a husband, two rescue dogs, and a grown up (human) stepson. She loves live music, Busch Gardens, traveling, and spending time with family. Although she misses the mountains, her delight and enthusiasm for the Greater Richmond area and everything it has to offer have not diminished in the decade she has called it home. If you've heard of a new activity or restaurant in town, please clue her in at once!
